Recent Activity
The International work outlook has been good for the
year 2009 and prospects for 2010 are very promising. The company commenced
a new road design project in Swaziland in September 2009 and also has been
awarded another major road supervision project in Tanzania, for the Millenium Challenge Account, due to start in the first
half of 2010. Also a new road supervision project has been awarded in Malawi in February 2010.
In the water sector, the company has commenced an EU financed
water scheme on the island of Grenada (West Indies) and this project
will run until the end of 2010. Our harbour project in St. Helena Island is planned to proceed to construction in April 2010.
Our highway projects in Jamaica has come to a successful completion at
the end of 2009 and the major higway project in Kenya will run as well into 2010, due to the addition of a major weighbridge complex into the contract which involves extensive infrastructure.
The International section is now actively pursuing assignments in Asia
since Ireland has become a full member of the Asian Development Bank.
We have already carried out a reconnaissance mission to the ADB Headquarters
in Manila and Expressions of Interest for Consultancy Assignments are
being actively pursued. This year the company was shortlisted for highway supervision work in Vietnam.
